"It is necessary to develop a system of foreign investing and investments in the basic infrastructure, as well as competition management. Besides that, our great problem is a bad hotels structure and low power purchase of guests. However, there are projects which could be soon realized, like cultural events, cruise travellings and business tourism, while for the spa and country tourism are necessary investments.", explained Dimitrijevic.

The Startegy itself showed that in the Serbian tourism at the moment work around 30.000 registered enterprisers and 35.000 more unlegally, with the capital estimated to be around 600 millions eur, while their total profit in 2005 was around 300 millions eur. Also, more than 60% of this companies from the branch were not privatized and there are still no large investitors interested in making thos investments.

The goal of this Strategy is to increase the number of over nights from 6 to 16-20 millions a year, as well as to increase the number of beds from present 80.000 to 170.000 in the hotels with 4, 5 stars. Strategy should also help with building up of luxurious hotels, especially through coming of world hotel chains, as well as a division of Serbia into 4 touristic regions - Vojvodina, Belgrade, South-Eastern and South-Western Serbia.
