The first step toward the implementation of the 5G signal is the public discussion about the rulebook on the minimum requirements for the introduction of a 5G network, the minister of information and telecommunications of Serbia, Dejan Ristic, said for RTS.
– That public discussion began on September 13 and it lasts 30 days. On September 25, at noon, at the Palace of Serbia, we will also have a round table within the public discussion and I am hereby inviting everybody interested to attend – says Ristic.
Following the discussion, the minister of information and telecommunications is to sign the rulebook, and the next step is within the responsibility of the RATEL.
– They are to open an international auction which should be completed by spring next year. We also expect the entire procedure to be completed at the end of May or the beginning of June and to have the mobile operators which give the best offer and whose offers are accepted slowly enter the procedure of introducing 5G – the competent minister says.
Ristic also points out that there will be a unified auction for the renewal of the 2G, 3G and 4G bands and, on the other hand, for the introduction of the 5G network.
– That was one of the requests of the operators. This is the practice in a whole range of European countries. It will make the job easier for the operators, because that auction will be unified – emphasizes Ristic.
