Vucic announces minimum wage of RSD 51,000 to 52,000

The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has announced that the minimum wage will go over RSD 51,000 and that pensions will be increased by more than 10%. As he said, the intention is for the minimum wage to be between RSD 51,000 and 52,000.

– In talks with employers, I will fight for the minimum wage to be increased, but in a way that would not jeopardize the arrival of foreign investors, but also local entrepreneurs. I will, above all, ask everybody to take care of the minimum wage – said Vucic.

When asked by the press about the average salary, Vucic said that we had arrived to what we had been fighting for.

– Of course, not everybody has the average salary of RSD 100,000. It’s the average salary, it’s the medium value of the total net salaries in Serbia. The median salary is RSD 78,000, so, 50% earn less than this, 50% earn more – he said.

There will be, as he says, salary increases in the public sector, and incomparably more in the education system.

He said that, in Serbia, 620,000 people earned an average salary of over RSD 100,000, whereas more than 100,000 people had a salary higher than RSD 200,000.

Let us remind that the negotiations about the minimum wage should start on August 15.
