American company Medtronic arriving to Serbia, to cooperate with BIO4 Campus

The American innovative company in the field of medicine and medical devices Medtronic is set to arrive to Serbia after it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovations of Serbia and the future BIO4 Campus.

The competent minister, Jelena Begovic, told the press at the Government of Serbia, following the signing of that memorandum, that cooperation in the fields of science, the development of innovations and clinical studies would be established with that company.

– Such companies, which employ almost 100,000 people, more than 12,000 scientists and invest almost three billion dollars annually in research and development, are extremely important for Serbia, because they see our country as a partner and as a creative place with a large number of talents – she said.

She stated that it was a company that had been operating since 1949 and had been introducing innovations, from pacemakers and diabetes treatment, to the latest devices that helped people with a damaged nervous system through neurostimulation.

Majid Kaddoumi, the company's senior vice president for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, thanked minister Begovic for having launched the initiative, helping enable one such company to arrive to Serbia and praised the country for the way it looked into the future.

– We are glad that we will be able to cooperate in the fields of bioengineering and biomedicine, as well as in the implementation of technology for biological purpose – said Kaddoumi.

He added that Medtronic was a company that had an influential role in that field and estimated that the cooperation with Serbia would be of great use for both the country itself and the wider Eastern Europe region.
