Municipality of Pirot gets EUR 180,000 for construction of playground for kids - Tender for contractor until end-September 2011

The municipality of Pirot is going to announce a tender until the end of September 2011 for the appointment of a contractor for the works on the construction of a children's playground with a handball and basketball court in that town.

Construction of a playground for kids is part of the cross-border cooperation project between Pirot and Bulgaria's municipality of Montana, which is financed from the funds of the European Union.

The local self-government in Pirot has obtained EUR 180,000 for the construction of that playground, whereas the municipality is to provide 15 percent of the required funds. Project Coordinator Marija Djosic says that the EU representatives have already formed a monitoring team and visited the building site.

- The aim of this project, which we have designed together, is to improve the life of children. Kids in Bulgaria and Serbia spend most of their time on computer. In this way we want to motivate them to go in for sports. That is why we are creating such conditions - says Andonov.

Rehabilitation of the Youth Stadium in Pirot, the second out of total of three projects within the scope of aforementioned cooperation, for which these municipalities obtained EUR 600,000, is also going to start soon. The municipality of Pirot was granted almost EUR 300,000 for the works on the Youth Stadium.
