American Cultural Center in the renovated Railroad Stoves building - Memorandum of Understanding signed

US Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy Elizabeth Allen, together with the President of the Serbian Parliament Ana Brnabic and the head of the National Platform "Serbia Creates" Ana Ilic, signed a memorandum of understanding today. According to the memorandum, the American Cultural Center will be located in the Railroad Stoves building of the former Central Railway Station.

Allen said that it will be a "turbo machine" which will start relations between the United States and Serbia. She announced that when the space is finished, "it will be a place where we will build our relations" and a place where "citizens of both countries will be able to come and express their potential in an innovative space for young people."

Ana Brnabic stated that "it is symbolically important that the American Cultural Center will be located in the Railroad Stoves building in Belgrade Waterfront, in a place where culture, knowledge and innovation will come together and various projects will be financed by the United States".

In her words, "winning nations are those that nurture and encourage innovation and creativity and nations that create something new - they will be the winners in the 21st century."

- We will see the results very soon and I hope that this will motivate the government of the new Prime Minister Milos Vucevic to start similar projects in other municipalities in Serbia - Brnabic added.

Ana Ilic said that, until a year ago, the Railroad Stoves building was a ruin, and "today it is turning into a center of creative industries, one which will generate useful and inspiring contents".

She pointed out that she is glad that the Cultural Center was supported by the United States and that they recognized the vision and supported it fully.
