This was agreed at the meeting between the president of the CCIS, Marko Cadez, and Prof. Dr. Ursula Renold in Belgrade, where there was also talk about the reorganization of the role of the CCIS and its 16 regional chambers throughout Serbia in the strengthening of dual education in line with the companies’ requests.
– Today, the economy of Serbia has an increasing need for labor force which already has developed skills. As there is no such labor force here, there is increasing employment from abroad. That is why we have to implement necessary, radical changes in dual education. We have to be ready to switch to the next level of implementing dual education – pointed out Cadez, as announced on the CCIS website.
The switching of the economy of Serbia to a new level of dual education will entail considerable changes in the methodology of the curriculum for the implementation of dual education, a greater role of the economy in the realization of the program and a longer stay of the students in the companies, up to four days a week.
The economy of Serbia also seeks more responsibility for companies in this process and amendments to the law on education, but also employment, as well as the possibility of the selection of students who want to educate themselves in line with the dual model. One of the requests is for the professional orientation of elementary school pupils to be considerably improved and especially intensive from 6th grade.
At the moment, 950 companies, with the support of 186 schools, participate in the dual education system of Serbia. So far, around 8,000 students have completed dual education, whereas just as many are educated currently. The most demanded study profiles by the economy are from within the mechanical and metalworking industries (locksmith-welders, industrial mechanics, machine-cutting operators, motor vehicle mechanics), the electrical engineering industry (electricians, mechatronics technicians), hospitality (cooks, waiters) and others.
