Tender for Expert Supervision Over Planning and Construction of New Railroad Jovanovac – Cvetojevac Junction – Sobovica Published

The company Serbian Railways Infrastructure has published the tender for expert supervision over the planning and construction of the new railroad Jovanovac – Cvetojevac Junction – Sobovica. As clarified, the forming of the new industrial zone Sobovica has caused the need for its connecting with the existing railroad infrastructure, that is, the Lapovo – Kraljevo – Lesak – Kosovo Polje – Djeneral Jankovic – state border (Volkovo) railroad.

– The existing railroad Lapovo – Kraljevo – Lesak – Kosovo Polje – Djeneral Jankovic – state border (Volkovo) is a main railroad (E85), one-track and non-electrified. The allowed axle weight on the railroad section Lapovo – Lesak is 20 tons per axle and weight per linear meter is 7.2 t/m (category C3). The new railroad is planned for mixed traffic (passenger and cargo) and primarily connects the industrial zone Sobovica with the existing railroad no. 109 – the documentation emphasizes.

As pointed out, the planned railroad diverges from the existing main railroad before the Jovanovac rail station in a triangular shape.

Divergences are planned at km 19+777.09 and km 21+350.82. Considering that it was not possible to technically establish a divergence of the new railroad from the Jovanovac station due to the built structures, the solution was adopted whereby the divergence is realized through the junction which is located in from the Jovanovac rail station – Cvetojevac Junction (at km 21+350.82). The planned triangle also enables a direct track connection for the direction from Lapovo within the junction at km 19+777.09 in line with the project task – the documentation says and adds that, at km 13+457.65, a new station is planned, near the industrial zone Sobovica, which has the adequate rail and other capacities for the handling and dispatching of passenger and cargo trains and the serving of the passengers.

– Also, the connection of the main industrial track for the industrial zone Sobovica and the test tracks is realized through station tracks – the documentation specifies.


The selected bidder will have the obligation to perform the expert supervision services (FIDIC engineer), and the works which are subject to the control for which the expert supervision is in charge are the preparation of the project-technical documentation necessary for the issuing of the building permit, the preparation of the project-technical documentation necessary for the execution of the works at the level of the main project and the execution of the works in line with the preliminary design and the main project and the approval planning.

The tender for the planning and construction of this new railroad, which will be around 14 kilometers long, was published at the end of last year.

Bids may be submitted by April 30.
