In Next Three Years, Serbia to Preside Over Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence

Over the next three years, Serbia will preside over the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI). In the first and third years, it will be an assistant presiding country, and in the second year, the main presiding country, announced the PR Service of the President of Serbia.

– It is difficult to overstate how important this is for our country in terms of presence in the global trends of the development of artificial intelligence – stated the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.

GPAI is the initiative which strives to establish global standards and rules for the development of artificial intelligence, as well as to accelerate the development of AI globally. It was founded in 2020 at the initiative of the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the prime minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.

The GPAI Secretariat is with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and its expert centers are located in Montreal and Paris, whereas the new one will be opened in Japan.

Serbia was admitted slightly over a year ago, as one of the 29 members, by consensus. Among the most important members are the USA, the United Kingdom, India, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, France, Germany, Turkey, the EU and other countries.

Last year’s GPAI Summit was held in India and was opened by the country’s prime minister, Narendra Modi, in the presence of numerous representatives of states and experts from the whole world. The Republic of Serbia will get the option to host the next summit, which would be held in Belgrade.
