The project, as said, aims to upgrade the waste water services for the currently insufficiently provided populace on the left bank of the Danube.
The previous tender for the construction of 80 kilometers of the sewer was opened in March 2022, and since then, it has been extended as many as four times, and the reasons have not been provided.
The works should encompass the designing and construction of the primary and secondary sewer networks in said settlements and a system for the collection of waste waters in the settlement of Krnjaca (split into five service zones) with connections for user support, the reconstruction of the pumping station Kotez (reconstruction) and the construction of the main sewer from the pumping station Kotez to the existing main sewer on the Zrenjanin Road, as well as the reconstruction of the sewer pumping station Borca and the construction of the main sewer from the pumping station Borca to the existing main sewer on the Zrenjanin Road.
The solving of the problem of the sewer on the left bank of the Danube in Belgrade, which includes the construction of a waste water treatment facility and the construction of sewer systems in Krnjaca, Kotez and Borca, has been announced for five years now.
As the then deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, announced earlier, the construction of the sewer on the left bank of the Danube will cost EUR 55 million, of which the value of the agreement on financing that the City of Belgrade signed with the EIB is EUR 35 million, whereas EUR 20 million is to be provided from the city budget.
Vesic, who became the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia in the meantime, said last year while answering the questions asked by MPs at the National Assembly of Serbia that the tender for the construction of 80 kilometers of the sewer had been completed.
– A company from Turkey has been selected, and the signing of the agreement on the construction of the sewer in now in progress – Vesic said on April 27, as reported by Insajder.
The Belgrade Land Development Public Agency, which was the carrier of the job at the first tender, said at the time that, in cooperation with EIB representatives, the examination of the bids sent in response to the tender for the construction of 80 kilometers of a sewer system in the territory of the settlement of Krnjaca was being done at that moment.
On the other hand, the now leaving mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Sapic, also said in April last year that the city would look for other sources of finance if the EIB failed to approve the funds by June.
In early October, the EU Delegation to Serbia announced that the contract had not been awarded.
The duration of the job within the new tender has been estimated at 50 months (4 years and two months).
The tender is open until May 24, and the value of the job has not been announced. More details can be found HERE.
