The annual inflation in Argentina has reached the highest level in three decades, at 254% in January, although the rate has slightly slowed down on the monthly level, according to the latest statistical data.

The newly elected president Javier Milei has subjected the country to “shock therapy” reforms which aim to stabilize the falling economy, including a devaluation of the national currency by 50% compared to the US dollar.

The president has assessed that the inflation will be put under control in two years.
