Revival of sugar plant in Zrenjanin - Production of starch and syrup at Victoria Starch plant starts in 2012

A combination of state-of-the-art technologies and the use of energy generated from traditional fuel in Vojvodina - straw, gives good results at the production plants of Sojaprotein and Victoria-oil. The third corn processing plant will be put in operation next year and it will be powered by the briquettes left over from harvests. In that way, consumers are offered food that meets all standards and has competitive prices in the international market.

After several unsuccessful privatization attempts and the declaration of bankruptcy six years ago, the sugar plant complex in Zrenjanin has been revived. Preparations have started for the construction of Victoria Starch plant, which will be producing corn syrup and starch.

Part of the capacities will serve as a storage space for the harvest leftovers for the needs of Victoria Group, part of which is Victoria Starch, while straw will be used in the production of energy.

- I think it is a good example to close the entire cycle of procurement of materials, processing of raw materials and semi-finished products, and production, and put everything in one facility to cut the costs and reduce the consumption of energy, which will be 2-3 times cheaper - said Milan Zivkov, technical director of Victoria Starch in Zrenjanin.

Part of the company Victoria Logistica buys raw materials for all processing capacities. This year, 70,000 tonnes of barley, wheat and soybean straw will be procured for the production of cheap energy in these capacities.

Agreements for the purchase of the harvest leftovers have already been concluded, and the purchase price is set at EUR 35 per tonne. For the production of technological steam in the future corn processing plant, the daily consumption is estimated at 300 tonnes of the harvest leftovers.
