The 5th International Student Week ISWiB 011 was ceremoniously opened on Monday (July 11, 2011) at the Belgrade City Hall. The largest student conference in Southeast Europe is this year held in Belgrade and it is expected to gather over 200 students from 50 countries until July 17th.
This event is organized by the youth, non-government and non-profitable organization World Youth Wave, and it is backed by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Belgrade Youth Office, GIZ Foundation, the Tourism Organization of Belgrade, and numerous other partner organizations from the country and abroad.
– The City supports the International Student Week from the start, which is important because the participants in the first events are now successful business people who tell stories about Belgrade as they know it from their student days. It is good that the event is held in summer since participants will have a chance to see everything that our city offers during summer months, as well as to experience the nightlife of Belgrade. The International Student Week has won the City Star award as one of the best projects supported by the City of Belgrade - said Kosta Andric, director of the Belgrade Youth Office.
During the Student Week, participants will be exchanging their experiences and increasing their knowledge in 11 areas. Students will also have an opportunity to establish professional contacts with respectable professors and businessmen from various domains and implement their own projects. They will attend interactive lectures and workshops on media, culture, economics, art, environment protection, human rights and youth engagement.About 100 volunteers take part in the organization of this event.
