Slovenia's Don Don rents Kikinda Bakery - Production starts on July 15, 2011

Slovenia's Don Don has rented the production capacities of the Kikinda-based bakery, the largest bread manufacturer in Kikinda and in the north of Banat. Production at Kikinda Bakery was halted in mid-October 2010 and the company went in bankruptcy few months later.

The bread production will start again on July 15th, thus ending a years-long business agony of once successful company. Bankruptcy Manager Milica Bogunovic specifies that the new renter of Kikinda Bakery is Pudarci-based PDM, part of the Don Don system. The lessee from Slovenia will hire 30 former workers for start.

Both local self-government and provincial administration have been intensively working on finding solutions to the problems that emerged after the business collapse in this company and the declaration of bankruptcy. In February, about hundred former workers of Kikinda Bakery received food and hygiene products from the provincial government.

- This lease is an expected and desired phase in the bankruptcy caused more than two months ago. It is the first step - to rent out the production capacities and start the operations until a permanent partner is found to buy the company. It usually happens that the renter buys the company afterwards, being satisfied with the started production. I hope it will also be the case with the Slovenian partner and that it will express interest in buying Kikinda Bakery - Provincial Secretary for Labor, Employment and Gender Equality Miroslav Vasin said during his visit to Kikinda.
