Awakening of the Balkan tiger - Arrival of Intergraph software company in Serbia foreshadows big industrial development?

A big interest in the first Intergraph CADWorx & Analysis Solutions (ICAS) conference in Serbia has surprised even the organizers. The hall Studenica at Belgrade-based Holiday Inn hotel was full, and participants in the conference were able to get familiar with all the innovations introduced by Integraph, the world's leading developer of expert engineering and geospatial software products that enable users to visualize complex sets of data.

- We have come to Belgrade and Serbia to promote ourselves in a way and say out loud: "People, you can now see that there is a software that does not cost a lot and yet provides so many benefits". It is intended for mechanical designing of processing plants. This software has everything that a small or a big company needs to start making designs in a contemporary way, with a solution that brings huge savings - Misa Jocic, founder of the company Piptech, which is headquartered in Switzerland, says for eKapija.

Piptech, the authorized distributor of Intergraph software for our market, was the host of the event in Belgrade. A special lecturer was Paulo Moncores from the U.S. company ICAS (Intergraph Cadworx& Analysis Solutions).

Speaking about current situation in Serbia, he says that only few companies use legal Intergraph solutions, among which are Energoprojekt, Masinoprojekt, and Nis Inzenjering.

- They use old licenses that have not been renewed for a long time and are far from new versions. We hope that they will renew them. However, due to a large number of illegal copies, we do not possess clear data about how much that software is present in Serbia.

Jocic also says that the company Proing has recently purchased a software for the analysis and design of pressure vessels.

- Analysts from the U.S. company are carefully watching our market and they told us some interesting things. Namely, their prognosis is that radical changes will occur. A guest from the USA said at the conference that our market was seen as "the Balkan tiger", meaning it has both strength and speed that need to be awakened in order to be ready for action.

In spite of the fact that they know that our unemployment rate is high, that the gross domestic product is small, and that our debts are big, they still believe in great strength of this region, says Jocic.

- Large multinational companies are analyzing our market and considering the right moment to enter our country and start investing in the business. That is why Intergraph is interested in operating in this region because a huge need for Intergraph software products will emerge the moment large global players enter the market .

Piptech is the sales agent for Integraph solutions in the markets of Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia, and the U.S. company also plans to expand cooperation to the markets of former Yugoslavia and the Balkans.
