Demolition or Reconstruction of All “Ugly” Facilities Along Highways Planned in First Half of 2024

By the end of the first half of 2024, along the highway routes in the country, there should be no more “ugly” facilities. As the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced yesterday, by the end of June, all the “ugly” facilities along the highways (poor-quality gas stations or public toilets) will be either demolished or reconstructed.

– It will all be wiped off, because Serbia has to have its cleanest face – Vucic said while taking a tour of the works on the exit portal of the Iriski Venac tunnel on the Fruska Gora route.

At the construction site, Vucic pointed out that, in 2024, a total of 167 kilometers of highways and fast routes, worth EUR 2 billion, would be completed.

– We are building 642 kilometers of highways and fast routes, and this year, 167 kilometers will be completed – Vucic pointed out and reminded that the Iriski Venac tunnel was the longest two-tube tunnel on that highway.

– The length of this tunnel is three and a half kilometers and it will be completed in October. We have to accelerate all the big projects, in both the north and other parts of our country. We are also developing our tourism offer. Regarding that, Serbia is planning to help the owners of farm properties and ethno-houses to best present our tourism offer – said Vucic.

He added that they would “try” to make the Vrdnik-Irig panoramic road, which would be six kilometers long, and he also announced the completion of roads in the Ruma area.
