The campus, as announced earlier, will be built in phases, and in the first one, the works will encompass 110,000 square meters of usable areas for laboratories and business spaces, where seven faculties of the University of Belgrade will be housed, as well as nine science institutes. It will also feature an extension of the Science-Technology Park in Belgrade, as well as company premises. The plan is for the whole project to be completed by 2026 and for it to have more than 300 laboratories once everything is completed.
Last week, at the Government of Serbia, the architectural project was signed with the future tenants of the BIO4 Campus, and the minister of science, technological development and innovations, Jelena Begovic, announced the issuing of the construction permit and the beginning of the works.
The BIO4 Campus will spread on around 20 hectares.
The estimated value of the investment is around EUR 350 million, whereas EUR 200 million was received from the Council of Europe Development Bank for the initial infrastructural works.
The minister recently emphasized that the estimate was that around EUR 100 million would be needed for the equipment.

In the past days, the prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, pointed out that the campus would gather 1,400 professors, researchers, 4,000 students and over 1,000 doctors of science.
Let us remind that the future campus is named BIO4 due to the fields that will be researched within it. These are biomedicine, biotechnology, bioinformatics and biodiversity.
The preparatory works within this complex began in late May.
