For the announced tender for issuing of the second licence for mobile telephony in Serbia, the great interest showed "Mobilkom Austria", British "Vodafon", Greek "OTE", "Telenor" from Norway and Spanish "Telefonika". Experts in Vienna have estimated the value of the joint Serbian-Austrian company between 800 millions and a billion eur, while the Government of Serbia expects the minimum price on the tender to be around 700 millions eur.
The president of the Management of "Mobilkom Austria" Boris Nemsic announced that this company would participate at the existing tender for the second licence of mobile telephony in Serbia and warned that "Mobilkom Austria" would not pay unrealistic price. Nemisc avoided to directley anwer to the question wether the price of 700 millions eur expected by the Serbian government was real or too high.
When speaking of British "Vodafon" it is highly unlikeley that this company will enter direct combat with "Mobilkom" at tender, as these two companies are in partnership.
The offers for election of privatization advisor for the sector of telecommunications will be open for acceptance by the end of the March, 2006. In the first day of May, 2006, there will be a tender for giving the licence on 063 network and for the sale of equipment and subsrciption base of "Mobtel", so in the middle of the same year there should be a coming of one of the many interested foreign companies at the serbian market of mobile telecommunications.
