In association with the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED), cities of Subotica, Vranje, Leskovac, Pirot and Bujanovac obtained on Tuesday "ambassadorial teams" that will work on the business climate improvement and investment promotion.
NALED Vice President Goran Jovic said on that occasion that each team would
comprise an ambassador or a representative from an EU country or Israel,
one successful businessman and one representative from the local
self-government.
- The role of ambassadors and businesspeople is to
help these municipalities to make use of their advantages, show
economic potential and get in touch with potential investors and
business partners - Jovic explained.
Ambassador of Portugal Luis de Almeida Sampaio stated that the creation of a favorable business climate posed the main challenge for Serbia.
- Foreign investment cannot be attracted without that - the ambassador stressed and added that the judicial system reform and fight against corruption and organized crime were fundamental for ensuring a favorable investment climate in Serbia.
De Almeida Sampaio, member of the "ambassadorial team" for Bujanovac, said that Portugal can help that municipality by sharing the experiences in environment protection and waste management and announced that Bujanovac would be visited by a delegation of businessmen from Portugal in September.
