Memic: Great Interest of Chinese Tourists for Visiting Serbia

There is a great interest of Chinese tourists for visiting Serbia, said the minister of tourism and youth of Serbia, Husein Memic, who is on a visit to China with the prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic.

Memic, as announced by the Government of Serbia, has expressed his expectation that the number of Chinese tourists in Serbia will exceed the 2019 record by the end of this year and pointed to the fact that, by August, the number of overnight stays of tourists from that country was 10% higher compared to the same period four years ago.

– The aircraft are filled out, and we are close to an agreement about establishing a flight between Belgrade and Shanghai, which will contribute to a higher number of tourists – Memic said and added that, during the conversation with the tour operators, he had been surprised to learn that they knew everything about Serbia, including the new flights between Beijing and Belgrade, in both directions.

According to him, the Tourism Organization of Serbia is present in Shanghai and does its job very well.

He said that older generations in China still remembered the movies “Walter Defends Sarajevo” and “The Bridge” and that they also liked to tour the monuments protected by the UNESCO and added that younger Chinese citizens were interested in visiting Belgrade and ski centers.
