Eleven shareholders of the Slovenian market chain Mercator signed on Wednesday an agreement on the sale of 50.03 percent of the ordinary shares of the company.
When the agreement was signed, a package of shares of Mercator officially appeared in the market and the sale procedure started, said Cvetka Selsek, hired by Mercator to be an adviser in the procedure for the sale of the company's shares.
Selsek said that the agreement would also be signed by those major shareholders who had not done that before.
- The sale procedure will be run by a coordinator from Nova Ljubljanska Banka (NLS) - said Selsek.
She did not want to guess when the sale would take place, but the public speculates that it may happen by the year's end.
A big interest is expected in the acquisition of Mercator's shares. The wish to buy Mercator has already been expressed by Croatia's Agrokor, owned by Ivica Todoric, and some other trade companies from abroad.
