Budget Bill Earmarks Over RSD 22 Billion for EXPO

The 2024 Budget Bill, which was adopted by the Government of Serbia on Thursday, has been put before the parliament. Among the planned investments is the one for the Belgrade Expo 2027 project, for which RSD 22.6 billion is earmarked for the buildings and structures, through the Ministry of Finance.

For the procurement of domestic financial property, as support to the realization of the Belgrade Expo 2027, RSD 640 million is also envisaged through the Ministry of Finance.

Another billion is meant for subsidies for private companies as support to the Belgrade Expo 2027 project. These subsidies will go through the Ministry of Economy.

RSD 753 million of support to public non-financial companies and organizations is also planned for this investment through the Ministry of Energy.

The National Stadium is another public investment that is frequently in the public focus.

The Ministry of Finance has set aside RSD 13 billion for the construction of the National Stadium. The Budget Bill envisages the borrowing of EUR 360 million for the construction of urban infrastructure and the national stadium, as well as access routes, as well as the borrowing of EUR 190 million for the construction of line infrastructure for this investment.

Through the allocations for the Ministry of Construction, RSD 4.3 billion is planned for the construction of the railroad from Zemun Polje to the National Stadium in Surcin.

Let us remind that, on Thursday, the Government of Serbia adopted the 2024 Budget Bill, which foresees total revenues in the state treasury in the amount of RSD 2,040.9 billion, which is RSD 136.9 billion, or 7.2 percent more in relation to the revenues provided by the 2023 budget revision.

– The proposed budget is focused on development, which implies the continuation of high investments in capital projects, the construction of highways, high-speed railways, schools, hospitals, the policy of increasing salaries and pensions, as well as building the country and protecting the living standards of citizens – says the announcement of the Government of Serbia.

This bill envisages a fiscal budget deficit of RSD 197 billion, which is 2.2 percent of GDP and which is lower than the planned deficit for this year, which was projected at 2.8 percent of GDP by the budget revision.
