Serbia and China Sign Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Mariners’ Authorizations

The minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, and his Chinese colleague, the minister of transport, Li Xiaopeng, signed the Agreement on the Mutual Recognition of the Mariners’ Authorizations between the two countries in Beijing.

As the Serbian ministry announced, the agreement will enable mariners from Serbia to work in the territory of China, that is, on ships sailing under the Chinese flag, fully free, with Serbian degrees and authorizations, which also applies for Chinese mariners, who can work on ships under the Serbian flag.

– This way, we have made it easier for mariners to have better job opportunities in a simple way – Vesic said after his meeting with the Chinese colleague.

That, he added, is only one in a range of agreements between China and Serbia

– In line with the policy of Serbia, we are trying to fully enable the freedom of movement for people, goods and capital, to have people with degrees earned here be able to work freely in the whole world. We are also trying to get as many permits as possible for road transporters as well – the minister pointed out.

Vesic said that he had also talked to Li about the Chinese companies operating in Serbia, especially in the infrastructure sector.

– We especially talked about the ongoing projects and I thanked them for the fact that companies from China are making a great contribution to the realization of the policy of the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, which is to secure a rapid development of our country and economy through the development of infrastructure and transport. So, this was a conversation with friends – he said.

Vesic added that it had been agreed for the Chinese companies operating in Serbia to enable expert practice on their projects for students from Serbian universities, through the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.
