– These works will enable the irrigation of 14,000 hectares of agricultural land in the rural areas of the municipality of Novi Knezevac, which is a big step forward in solving the problem with supplying the farmland in the north of Banat with water. The entire project is worth a total of EUR 12,079,138.91 – the announcement says.
The construction of around 33 kilometers of a canal network from the river Zlatica to the river Tisa is planned, and the dominant structure will be the canal K-1, of around 29 kilometers. The main canal K-1 will be built for the most part on the route of the existing drainage canals and their connecting will achieve a double-purpose functioning, so they will also serve for irrigation in the future. The water will be taken from the Tisa, through the newly built Pumping Station Krstur.
– In order for the system to be fully functional, the PUE Vode Vojvodine has set aside additional funds in the amount of RSD 362,382,496.12 for the reconstruction of the existing structures and the construction of all the missing structures on the canal K-1 – it has been announced.
