By the total number of platform workers, Serbia is followed by Romania, North Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Croatia and Montenegro. However, a slightly more reliable indicator, as Ljubivoje Radonjic from that center explained, could be the population of gig-workers per 100,000 citizens in all countries.
– This gives us a different distribution, and in that context, North Macedonia has the highest number of freelancers per 100,000 citizens, followed by Serbia, Albania and Montenegro. As for the structure of the workforce by profession, the majority of gig-workers are in the field of creative services and multimedia – Radonjic said.
Observed by the gender structure of platform labor, men have a dominant share in all countries of the region, including Serbia.
– In Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is the largest share of men in the gig-population of the labor force, and it’s interesting that Albania is the best when it comes to the share of women in the gig-population. In Serbia, there are six to seven men to each ten platform workers, compared to women – he reminded.
