Copy of 166th Page of Miroslav Gospel Auctioned for EUR 3,400

At the auction during the donation evening organized by the Humanitarian Organization “Serbs for Serbs”, which was held yesterday at the “Reset” club, a copy of the 166th page of the Miroslav Gospel was auctioned for EUR 3,400. In addition to this page, as the calligraphy workshop Dijak said, people also made bids for the basket ball with signatures of all the players of Serbia’s national team from the Basketball World Cup 2023, which was brought this Monday directly from Manila by Aleksa Avramovic, as well as for the collected works of Matija Beckovic with a special personalized dedication. A total of EUR 1,725 was collected at the auction. The aim was to collect EUR 30,000 in donations for helping the National Kitchen in Kosovo and Metohija for the equipping of the production facility in Novo Brdo. Thanks to the donations made before and during the donation evening, over EUR 33,950 was collected, exceeding the target sum.

The auctioned page was created by the calligraphist Dusan Misic, using authentic materials, the same ones that were used to create the Miroslav Gospel in the 12th century. It is written on hand-tanned goat-skin parchment with a goose feather, illustrated and gilt. The inks and the paints that were used were made using medieval formulas, whereas the miniature is gilt with 24-carat gold.

Dusan graduated from the Academy of the Serbian Orthodox Church for Art and Conservation in 2017. He has been doing calligraphy since 2009 when he started attending an applied arts high school. So far, he has received 11 awards and recognitions for his work, of which three gold palettes, won in a competition of 32 countries and 18,000 works, stand out. He is a member of the Applied Artists and Designers Association of Serbia (ULUPUDS). He is a professor at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Belgrade and he creates work for the needs of the patriarch and numerous bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church and protocols of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
