– Regarding the posts on social media which say that, after the returned shipments of fruit from the EU borders, Serbia is banned from exporting all fruit to the EU, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management says to the public that this is untrue and that it is disinformation and is asking everybody not to spread panic and deceive the citizens – the ministry said.
They point out that, in August alone, Serbia exported to the EU 692 shipments, that is, close to 8,000 tons of fruit and vegetables, of which three shipments were returned.
This year, they say, of the 9,000 shipments which arrived at the border, Serbia returned 37 due to not being harmonized.
– All countries are trying to protect their market and to enable their citizens to use safe products, and if we’re talking notifications, they are not an announcement of a ban or an automatic ban on export and import, but indicate the raising of the control level, that is, a warning for the country which gets the notification to raise the level of its control system – says the Ministry of Agriculture.
