Association of Banks: Period of Implementation of Reduced Fees Expiring, Banks to Continue Calculating by Regular Tariffs

The more favorable conditions for the use of payment products and services of commercial banks, implemented last year at the initiative of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), within the measures of supporting the preservation of the stability of the market and the citizens’ standard, expire on September 1, after which the banks will have the option to continue calculating the fees using the regular tariffs, which were in use before the temporary measures were implemented, announced the Association of Serbian Banks.

– With the responsible implementation of special conditions for a period of one year, commercial banks in Serbia have contributed to the meeting of the goals of the initiative – the preservation of the citizens’ standard and the preservation of the stability of the financial system. We remind that banks have already supported similar initiatives before, such as the moratorium on credit products during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021 – the press release says.

In creating its price policies, commercial banks will keep adhering to the recommendations and regulations of the NBS, and each individual bank will have the option of deciding on the fees for their services, based on the estimate of the situation in the market and own operating costs, and with the consent of the regulator and the obligation of a timely informing of the clients, the Association of Serbian Banks concludes.
