The Republic Geodesic Institute and the European Union Delegation in Serbia have officially marked the end of implementation of the Design of Digital Orthophoto Maps of the Republic of Serbia project.
The project was implemented as part of the donor CARDS programme of the European Union and its official implementation commenced in 2005, while the first aerial photogrammetry survey began in 2007. It was successfully finished in December 2010.
This project included the design of digital orthophoto maps in three resolutions: 40 cm on the entire territory of the Republic of Serbia, spanning a total of 70,600 square kilometers, exclusive of Kosovo and Metohia, for which digital orthophoto maps were designed in 20 cm resolution, and the territory of the city of Belgrade; 20 cm on the territory of 194 cadastral municipalities whose survey is not included in the state coordinate system, spanning a total of 6,260 square kilometers; and 10 cm on 166 urban territories spanning a total of 3,200 square kilometers.
Implementation of this project has provided updated and quality spatial data of homogenous accuracy for the whole territory of the Republic of Serbia, development of capacities of the Republic Geodesic Institute, real estate market improvement, as well as stimuli for economic, social and, primarily, sustainable development of society through provision of relevant spacial information.
