The company Serbian Railways Infrastructure has published the tender for the preparation of the urban project for the determining of a public interest for the moving of the route of the Stalac-Djunis railroad section from the exit portal of Tunnel T1 to the exit portal of Tunnel T3, with access routes and side structures in the function of rail infrastructure.

This is the section which encompasses the settlements of Stalac and Braljina in the municipality of Cicevac.

According to the tendering documentation, the planning and construction of the railroad from the exit portal of Tunnel T1 to the exit portal of Tunnel T3 on the Stalac-Djunis railroad is the second part of the project of the modernization of the railroad section on the international rail Corridor 10 between Belgrade and Nis.

During the execution of the works, the contractor “proposed a better technical solution for the position of the rail route, one of whose parts deviates from the existing planning documentation.”

– The aim of the preparation of the urban project is to define the planning basis for the further realization of the infrastructural structure in question in the parts in which, through the preparation of the technical documentation, there was a deviation from the solutions and public purpose areas defined by the plan – it is said.

Bids may be sent by August 30, and more details (in Serbian) can be found HERE.

Let us remind that, at the beginning of the year, the agreement on the first tranche of the investment grant for the construction of the Belgrade-Nis fast railroad, of a total of EUR 598 million, within the financial package for rail Corridor 10, was signed by Alessandro Bragonzi, Head of Regional Representation for Western Balkans at European Investment Bank (EIB), and Goran Vesic, Serbian Construction Minister.

The agreement pertains to the construction of the Stalac-Djunis section, 17.7 kilometers long, on the third portion of the future fast railroad, which is the first one to be built, because the preliminary design for that section has already been completed and approved.

The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said at the time that the Belgrade-Nis railroad would be finished in 2027 and that trains would travel at 200 km/h on it.

In July, the Government of Serbia adopted the decision on the preparation of the spatial plan of the special-purpose area of the infrastructural corridor of the Stalac-Kraljevo railroad. The conceptual framework of the planning, use, development and protection of the planning area is based on securing the planning basis to the end of the reconstruction, electrification and modernization of the railroad on the Stalac-Kraljevo section, around 71.6 km long, for speeds up to 120 km/h.
