More than seven and a half million vehicles traveled the Serbian highways in July, which is a 7% increase compared to last year. The last weekend in July was the busiest, but there were no major delays at the toll booths.
This is largely down to the increasing number of electronic toll collection devices, of which there are currently around 700,000 in Serbia. Over 20,000 users have reconfigured their TAG devices to Open Balkan ETC – the uniform TAG device for Serbia and North Macedonia.
Darko Savic said on RTS that the users should have the TAG device in order to be able to access that toll collection system.
According to him, the users can get the new device in over 600 branch offices of the Post of Serbia, already configured for the Open Balkan web service.
The users of the prepaid TAG, he says, can reconfigure it in 25 branch offices of the Post of Serbia. He adds that the device can be transferred from vehicle to vehicle, and no fee is paid abroad.
Six percent discount
– In the integrated toll collection system between Serbia and North Macedonia, we recorded over 23,000 active users in 40 days, since it started functioning – Savic points out and adds that the users with the device for passing through Serbia have a 6% discount on the road toll.
He emphasizes that electronic toll collection is linked to payment cards and announces that, in the coming ten days, a protocol will be signed between Serbia and Montenegro.
– With Croatia, we have completed the negotiations and the signing of the agreement. We are working intensively on implementing that solution. I am announcing Republika Srpska, BiH, very soon. We will have a uniform system in the region – Savic says and adds that they are currently expanding 25 toll booths, which will be completed by the beginning of next year.
