Mladenovic: During August, the contract with Power China for the construction and design of the Belgrade Metro Depot will be signed

According to the latest statements by officials, the first train under Belgrade should pass in five years time.

The backfilling of the terrain on the Makisko polje is coming to an end, and citizens will be able to see the first buildings at the beginning of next year.

The digging machines, the "moles", Mladenovic explained, will be placed in two places - Bele Vode and Pancevacki Most.

- They will be directed towards each other and they should meet somewhere near the Fair by the end of 2027 - says Mladenovic.

According to him, traffic lanes will be partially usurped at the stations near the Fair, Banovo brdo, Ada Ciganlija, Mostarska petlje.

There will be no traffic stops, he added, at Sava Square, Republic Square, Bajlonije Square.


"The delay of the contract for the Depot construction does not postpone any start dates"


According to the City officials, the plan is to sign a contract for the construction of the Depot, for access roads and to order digging machines in the coming months.

The signing of the contract for the Depot construction is delayed, since the original deadline was February 2022, but Mladenovic points out that the construction of the Depot itself is not postponed, since the Depot is separated from the first line.

- In August, we will sign a contract with Power China for construction and design, i.e. the constructive part of the depot itself - Mladenovic says.


When does the digging start

Mining should begin in late 2024 or early 2025.
