US-based DS Smith takes over the Valjevo-based company for the production of packaging

DS Smith, the American supplier of sustainable fiber-based packaging, announced today that it has concluded an agreement on the acquisition of Bosis doo Valjevo for the production of high-quality packaging.

The takeover will be structured as an equity acquisition and is expected to close in the second half of DS Smith's fiscal year, subject to customary closing conditions, according to the statement.

Miles Roberts, CEO of DS Smith Group, stated that there has been significant growth in demand for sustainable packaging and plastic replacement in Eastern Europe, especially in Serbia.

"This acquisition will enhance our capabilities in the region and accelerate growth by offering sustainable and innovative world-class products to a much larger number of customers," he said, while Reinier Schlatmann, managing director of DS Smith for the Eastern Europe region, said the acquisition would offer new innovative solutions for plastic replacement.

After the completion of the takeover of Bosis doo, the total activities of DS Smith (in relation to the packaging business) in Eastern Europe will consist of 29 factories and additional facilities, employing over 7,000 people in the region, as per the statement.

Bosis is a family company founded in 1982 and employs 140 workers who work at one location in Valjevo.
