U.S. Companies Interested in Investing in Modern Energy Capacities in Serbia

American companies are interested in investing in technologically modern energy capacities in Serbia, said the U.S. ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill, in his conversation with the minister of mining and energy, Dubravka Djedovic, announced the competent ministry.

The minister noted that the energy transition process, in which Serbia would work on increasing the production capacities, increasing the share of renewable energy sources in the energy mix and the diversification of energy supply, was also an opportunity to raise the cooperation in energy to a higher level.

– In addition to the investments realized by the state, with the improvement of the legal framework, we also want to stimulate the private sector to invest in renewable energy sources (RES) more, which will contribute to a greater supply security, attracting new investments, as well as better environmental protection – the minister said.

She added that, with the adoption of the plan of the development of the energy infrastructure and energy efficiency measures, along with the adopted amendments to the Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources and the Strategic Documents whose preparation is in the final phase, Serbia set clear goals and priorities for the development of the energy sector.

– By creating a stable legal framework for new investments, especially in the field of renewable energy sources, we strive to attract investors which, with their experience and technologies, can contribute to a stronger energy sector of Serbia. In parallel, we are also developing a strategy of energy development, which we expect to be available for public discussion in the autumn – she added.

Hill praised the efforts and the visible results of Serbia in strengthening the energy sector relative to the risks of the energy crisis and added that American companies were interested in investing in technologically modern energy capacities in Serbia, it is said in the press release by the Ministry of Mining and Energy.
