Mladjan Dinkic, former minister of economy and regional development, announced that Krusevac-based Trayal corporation would get a new owner. He added that the Privatization Agency would terminate the contract if the current owner, the company Brikel EAD from Bulgaria, refused to return Trayal to the state.
Two large tire manufacturers from the USA and Finland are mentioned as potential strategic partners of Trayal.
Dinkic stressed that "the U.S. second largest tire manufacturer has expressed interest and readiness to invest EUR 100 million in Trayal, triple its capacities and hire new people", and claimed that the Finnish company Nokian Tyres was also interested in entering into a strategic partnership with Trayal.
- If the procedure starts this summer, a contract with a serious company from the USA or Finland may be signed as early as in September - Dinkic explained.
These announcements by Mladjan Dinkic have provoked a fierce reaction from the current management of Trayal.
- We find it immoral that now, when the management of Trayal has managed to win back numerous business partners from the country and abroad and registers EUR 13 million worth of sales in the first four months of this year, Mr. Dinkic seeks a strategic partner for the company that is already privatized - the management of Trayal announced.
Trayal corporation handed a plan for the reorganization of operations and debt rescheduling to the Court of Commerce in Kraljevo about twenty days ago, thus avoiding the danger of bankruptcy for having its account blocked for many years.
