Dunkermotoren opens EUR 1 million worth of plant in Subotica

A new plant of the German company Dunkermotoren, which will be producing special motors intended for export, was opened in Subotica on Thursday. That plant, in which about 1 million euros have been invested, will employ a total of 100 people by the end of the year.

The plant, situated in a duty-free zone, was opened by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic and Regional Development Verica Kalanovic, Minister of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic and member of the Managing Board of Dunkermotor Nikolaus Gref, in the presence of representatives of the German Chamber of Commerce in Serbia and representatives of local authorities.

Dunkermotor Executive Director in Subotica Djula Sabo said that that plant had started the trial production of micromotors for blinds in February and that the regular production had officially commenced on Thursday.

Sabo stressed that the plant, spanning about 1,500 square meters, had 42 employees at the moment. By the end of the year, another 60 people should be hired, while additional 100 workers should get a job during the next year.

He announced that another 1 million euros would be invested in new production lines over next few years.

Deputy Prime Minister Verica Kalanovic pointed out that it was a big and successfully implemented project, which confirmed that good results can be achieved only if everything was done together, efficiently and by the plan.

She said that the government had been conducting active measures to create new jobs, open new businesses and support all foreign investors in Subotica and the rest of Serbia.

Good infrastructure and transport links are of great importance for Serbia's inclusion in the demanding European market, she stressed.

Minister Dulic said that the arrival of the German investor in Subotica was significant for that city.

He pointed out that German investors would not invest in places with slow administration, poor business environment and corruption.

Member of the Managing Board of Dunkermotor Nikolaus Graf said that the decision on the opening of a plant in Subotica was made less than one year earlier and that the commencement of production in that period was a big success.

He added that Dunkermotor in Subotica was already producing between 230 and 250 motors for blinds, which were then exported to Germany.

The investment in Subotica envisages complete relocation of the production of micromotors for blinds from Bondorf in Germany to Subotica.

This plant produces motors of up to 500 watts for various purposes.
