Works on the laying of optical and power cables alongside the railway from Bar to the border with Serbia have been finished, the public company Zeleznicka Infrastruktura Crne Gore (Railway Infrastructure of Montenegro) announced.

The project is a result of the agreement on the joint investment of that company and Telekom Srbija, amounting to about EUR 15 million.

As it was announced, the company Zeleznicka Infrastruktura Crne Gore will be the owner of the whole power cable and 72 fibers, that is, 50% of the optical cable.

The laying of the power cable have created conditions for the video monitoring of the entire railway from Bar to Vrbnica railway station, on the border with Serbia. According to estimates, it will be one of the most modern railway monitoring systems, which will raise the safety level of the railway transport.

The optical cable alongside the railway can be utilized for various purposes, primarily for the needs of telecommunication services such as, for example, the rental of channels to cable television broadcasters.
