The construction company Marera Construction, which has the biggest experience in the market in the field of reconstruction, has been hired for the execution of the construction works on the repair and reconstruction of the existing structure of the famous Beobanka building in the Zeleni Venac neighborhood in Belgrade, on the corner of Brankova and Carice Milice streets.
A new, modern business building, which will be called BRANKOV Business Center, will spread on a total area of 10,500 square meters, of which 8,300 are meant for lease. The building will have a total of 13 floors, and following the reconstruction, it will be characterized by an impressive entrance hall, the application of sustainable materials in line with global trends, and a green roof balcony which will be located on the sixth floor, providing a gorgeous panoramic view to the capital city.
Marera Construction has a proven expertise in the field of the reconstruction of buildings and the renewal of old edifices in the Belgrade center which are of special importance and significance, and in cooperation with the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments. Its portfolio features nearly 80 thousand square meters of successfully reconstructed commercial facilities, among which are the former “Beko” factory in Lower Dorcol, which is now the modern office space “Kalemegdan Business Center”, the famous “Beogradjanka” building, as well as the BIGZ building, where the works are in the final phase.
The former Beobanka building was raised in 1960 as an office building of Energoprojekt, after a design of the architect Milica Steric. The facility was built at a time when the requirements of office space, although modern for the time, were considerably different than today, so the sustainability of the project is emphasized during the reconstruction, and the works on the construction are carried out in line with the highest environmental, technical and building standards, so that modern office space and safe support to their business would be offered to the tenants.
– Considering the year of the construction of the building, its special characteristics and the initial idea, there is a range of challenges and special features of the facility which are typical for these kinds of buildings. It is very demanding and awarding to do such projects, because they entail a proactive approach to the works and the implementation of the best business practices, engineering logic and skills – emphasizes Nemanja Ilic, the director of Marera Construction.
Ilic adds that each reconstruction project so far has been demanding and challenging in its own way, however, what’s common to all of them is that, at the moment the works started, they had been neglected for years, or even decades, and in a very bad condition.
– An additional difficulty was that they were located in the city center and that the works were done at very short deadlines – Ilic says.
Marera Construction delivers and carries out projects in the commercial, industrial and infrastructural segments. To investors, it offers a wide range of services in the management of construction projects on one hand and structural engineering through its own facilities on the other. It covers all phases in the preparation of the construction of facilities, as well as the construction itself – from planning and designing, obtaining the permits and requirements from the carriers of public authorizations and procurement, to supervision, equipping of workspace interiors and the handing over of facilities.
