Philip Morris International (PMI) has started selling the new smokeless device by KT&G – lil SOLID Ez, supported by IQOS, in Serbia. This cooperation is taking place based on the agreement that PMI and KT&G, the leading South Korean producer of tobacco and nicotine products, signed in January 2023.

lil SOLID Ez is a new-generation compact device which evenly warms up and does not burn tobacco from the inside with the help of a stainless-steel needle, creating an aerosol, but without tobacco smoke, ash, or fire, in the process. The aerosol contains, on average, 95% less harmful matters compared to cigarette smoke. This device complements the existing range of alternatives without tobacco smoke of the company PMI in Serbia, which encompasses IQOS or SOLID systems for tobacco heating, as well as VEEV and VEEBA electronic cigarettes. The increasingly wide range of smokeless products in the PMI portfolio is meant for smokers of legal age who would otherwise continue smoking, so that they would replace cigarettes with less harmful alternatives as soon as possible.

The KT&G products that PMI distributes outside South Korea, such as lil SOLID Ez, are subject to careful assessment of the competent regulatory bodies in the markets where they are introduced and to testing based on high scientific standards of PMI, so as to confirm the absence of combustion and considerably reduce the emission of harmful chemicals compared to cigarettes.

This important step toward a future without tobacco smoke is a continuation of the successful results of the existing range of smokeless products of PMI. On March 31, 2023, there were 25.8 million users of IQOS devices, of which 18.5 million smokers of legal age had fully switched to IQOS and stopped smoking cigarettes.

It should certainly be kept in mind that smokeless products are not without risk either, because they release nicotine, which causes addiction.
