In the past period, around RSD 2.6 billion has been secured for subsidies for the energy repair energy of buildings, and around 20,000 households have been encompassed. An additional sum of around EUR 70 million has been secured for the continuation of the program, and around 80,000 households more are expected to get these subsidies, said the minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic. With the US ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill, she visited three residential buildings in Valjevo on which energy repair works had been done, thanks to which the consumption of electrical energy would be reduced by around 30%.

Djedovic expressed her gratitude to the USAID project “Better Energy” for the support to the National Program of Energy Repair of Residential Buildings, Family Houses and Apartments by taking part in financing the works on five buildings in Valjevo, with the works on three of them already finished.

The minister said that the total value of the project for all five buildings was RSD 10.6 million and that the effects were not only measured by electrical energy savings and lower costs, but also the reduction of the emission of harmful gases.

Hill emphasized the excellent cooperation that the US embassy had realized with the citizens of Valjevo through the “Better Energy” project and thanked all the participants in the project.

Within the joint project of the Ministry of Mining and Energy, the City of Valjevo and the USAID project “Better Energy”, which encompassed the energy repair of residential building, the installation of thermal insulation was done and the entrance doors and windows on shared rooms were replaced.
