Reconstruction of Cair stadium in Nis commences - Investment worth EUR 9 million

Works on the reconstruction of Nis-based Cair stadium, in which EUR 9 million will be invested, commenced yesterday, it was announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.
Minister of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic was present when the works commenced and said on that occasion that it was one of the biggest projects within the framework of the aid programme for the construction industry in the conditions of the global economic crisis and that between 500 and 1,000 construction workers would be working on that project.
- The set period for the completion of the first phase of reconstruction of east, north and south stands is 270 days, that is, nine months - said the minister.
The funds for this reconstruction, in the amount of 10% of the value of the investment, have been given by the competent ministry and the City of Nis, while the rest will be provided from a loan of the Development Fund, as well as within the framework of the aid programme for the construction industry.
Nis Mayor Milos Simonovic pointed out that Nis was going to get a stadium that would meet the criteria set by FIFA and added that it would be able to hold over 18,000 spectators.
