12 Star City - Belgrade wins Council of Europe's special award

Belgrade, Brussels, Paris, Strasbourg and Lausanne are laureates of the special award "12 Star City", which is granted for achieved results every year by the Council of Europe during the celebration of the European Local Democracy Week.

President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities Kate Whitmore presented that prestigious award to Danko Runic, the Director of the Agency for EU Integration, at a ceremony in Strasbourg, explaining that the capital city of Serbia has been fully committed to the promotion of local democracy.

On that occasion, Mr. Runic expressed the gratitude to European officials for their trust, reminding that Belgrade last year participated for the first time in the celebration of the European Local Democracy Week.

Also, as he pointed out, this valuable award also represents a stimulus and motivation for the future participation of the capital city of Serbia in this initiative.
