Russians work on the interior of the Church of St. Sava?

The best Russian artists will, most likely, join organization of interior of Commemorative Church of St. Sava on Vračar. The talks about that have already started on the occasion of the visit of certain high Russian delegation to the Church on Vračar, which was led by Georgij Sergejevič Poltavčenko, plenipotentiary delegate ot the president of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Poltavčenko, who was in Serbia for the sake of the official visit to Boris Tadić, visited the Church together with the president of Serbia. Their hosts were the representatives of Serbian Orthodox Church led by bishoup of Bačka Irinej and the builders of the Church. Builder Vojislav Milanović said that the works go as planned and he expressed the hope that they will not be discontinued any more, as many times in its unfortunate history.

At the moment, it is being worked on the stone reliefs and panels and it is expected that the big part of stone works will have been completed until Easter. What follows is the making of mosaics on 15,000 square meters in Serbia-Byzantium style – it is a huge surface and the people who could be entrusted this creative part of the works have not been found yet. The guests from Russia, one of which was one of the most famous sculptors of the world, Zurab Cereteli, were interested in the building technology.
