In spite of the crisis, Tigar corporation achieved good business results and increased its export by about 70% in 2010. According to the words of Dragan Nikolic, the President of this company, Tigar expects to double the sales in foreign markets in 2011, which guarantees a EUR 30 million export.
Mr. Nikolic is of the opinion that the decision to abandon the production of pneumatics and start the production of rubber footwear was very good.
- The decision to abandon the production of tires, which are now manufactured by French Michelin, was made exclusively on the basis of an analysis of trends in the global pneumatics market. Our first assessment was that we cannot survive in that field as an independent factory and that we could even go bankrupt if we failed to find a quality strategic partner - said Mr. Nikolic.
He added that the company was instead planning to create preconditions to "become the leading manufacturer of rubber footwear in the first phase, develop a technical tire with a recycling plant in the second phase, and focus on ecological projects in the third phase, thus creating a basis for the company's sustainable development".
Tigar corporation has not yet announced official business results for the last year. With the price of RSD 706 that the shares of this company reached on Friday, the value of the market capitalization of Tigar is RSD 1.2 billion (EUR 11.7 million).
