Construction of Diagnostics Center Planned Within General Hospital “Studenica” in Kraljevo – Facility to Have MR Device, Radiology, Outpatient Clinics and Laboratories

The construction of a diagnostics center with a basement and two floors (including the ground floor) within the General Hospital “Studenica” is planned in Kraljevo. The designing, engineering and construction Studio Arhitekton from Vrnjacka Banja was in charge of the preparation of the urban project, which was up for public presentation from February 17.

Said location is in Jug Bogdanova Street, and the construction of outpatient clinics is planned in the central part of the Health Center “Studenica”, where the parking lot is located at the moment.

The total area of the parcel is 35,669 m2, whereas the planned gross developed area of the new facility is 4,271.80 m2.

The facility is designed so as to be situated next to the existing facility, which currently features the radiology section, and on the northwest side, next to the existing tunnel (beneath the existing parking lot), which currently connects the polyclinic, the internal medicine hospital and the surgical unit. A heated corridor is established in the basement of the new facility and the existing tunnel. The new facility has a heated corridor in the basement and on the ground floor to the radiology section, the polyclinic and the surgical unit.

Accommodation of inpatients is not planned in the facility.

Of the features, the basement level will have an MR device, workshops, warehouses and a wardrobe for the staff.

The MR section consists of a room for magnetic resonance imaging, a command room, a wardrobe for patients and the MR technical room. The MR room will be built inside a so-called Faraday cage. In front of the entrance to the MR room will be a reception desk operated by nurses and a waiting room with a toilet. The entrance to the MR space is enabled directly from the main corridor, allowing both the patients from the polyclinic and those from the internal medicine sections and the infirmary to access this type of imaging, the preliminary design says.

An internal medicine reception department and a radiology section are planned on the ground floor. Right next to the exterior entrance are rooms for reanimation and triage, as well as several outpatient clinics: for internal medicine, neurology, pulmonology, psychiatry and an outpatient clinic with ultrasound for functional testing. Next to the outpatient clinics for internal medicine and neurology, rooms for patient observation are planned, with three or two beds. An infection outpatient clinic and an outpatient clinic for the isolation of patients are planned as well. The radiology department will enable the imaging of patients at one of the two X-ray machines, one scanner, one mammogram, or one of the three ultrasound devices.

A central laboratory, an archive and a machinery substation are planned on the upper floor. Patients are to reach the upper floor by elevator or staircase, accessing the laboratory. Several laboratory rooms for sample analysis are planned: two biochemistry labs, a hematology lab, an immunochemical lab, a urine sample analysis lab and a genetic lab. There will also be a room with microscopes and a centrifuge room. A room for the washing and sterilization of laboratory dishes, a warehouse room, a room for the storage of chemicals and reagents, as well as a room with refrigerators and freezers (a cold room), are planned as well.

The preliminary design was prepared by the company Quiddita from Belgrade.
