Crude Oil from Samac in Republika Srpska to be Exported to Serbia

The crude oil extracted from the exploratory boreholes in the area of the municipality of Samac will be exported to Serbia to the system of the Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) company, owned by the Russian Gazprom.

This has been confirmed for Radio Free Europe by NIS, which has a concession for the exploration and use of crude oil and gas in the territory of Republika Srpska through its company Jadran-Naftagas in Banjaluka.

In mid-February this year, the decision of the Government of Republika Srpska, according to which the concessionaire was authorized to extract up to 4,800 cubic meters of crude oil for the duration of six months, “for the purpose of testing the quality and the chemical-technological characteristics of the mineral resource”, came into effect.

That is a quantity of four million and 800,000 liters of crude oil. Express as mass, it is slightly over 4,000 tons, that is, more than 200 truck tanks of crude oil.

This is the second time in six months that the government is giving a permit for the exploitation of oil in that area. In June last year, Jadran-Naftagas was authorized to carry out a test extraction of five million liters of crude oil.
