Norwegian partners, who will help Serbia carry out energy reforms, have proposed the “Management Services Agreement” model, which entails the management of state energy companies in Serbia by foreign professional management, writes Demostat.

The revitalization of energy companies, EPS, Srbijagas and others requires financial funds, among other things, for the construction of new capacities as well. Foreign partners are ready to help, but they don’t trust the local management which has been in power so far and which has often been appointed by political parties, the website writes.

The state does not intend to be the owner of energy companies, the Ministry of Mining and Energy says for Demostat, but also points out that the main problem at the moment is not ownership, but management.

The aim is for Serbia to have supply security and for key energy companies to be efficient and profitable and that is what the task of professional management should be, the ministry says.

They add that the aim is also to improve the business operations in order to get money that would later be invested in the boosting of the energy sector.
