Allied Telesis saves enough energy to make over 52 million cups of tea. One million Allied Telesis green ports shipped over the past year has saved users 1,314,000 kW-h of energy.

This company has shipped over one million green ports in the past year, saving its customers enough energy to boil water for 52,560,000 cups of tea.

Since 2008 Allied Telesis has been working to reduce the power consumption of products across its full range. Part of this is re-engineering existing products to identify and eliminate power wastage, following the approach of ‘measure and minimize’ – measuring every single watt of power used by its products and reducing it to the lowest possible wattage in order to function efficiently.

Alongside compliance with Energy Star energy efficiency specifications, a number of innovations have come together to reduce the power consumed by Allied Telesis switches.
One of these is Allied Telesis’ ‘ECO-Switch technology’, which allows the user to run the device in the lowest possible power mode at the push of a button. Automatic turn-off for ports overnight ensures that when the switch is not being used it does not waste power. Also, when connected to Ethernet cables, the device can detect the cable length and will drive less power through shorter cables.
