Stipe Lovreta, an adviser in the Ministry of Trade of Serbia, said today that that Ministry was not considering freezing prices.

He said at the presentation of the new basket of commodities in Serbia that freezing of prices was contrary to the policy conducted by the Ministry of Trade and was not a way to protect the standard of citizens.

- A solution lies in an adequate social policy that should be focused on socially endangered part of the population in Serbia - said Mr. Lovreta.

According to his words, freezing of prices would make it possible for those richer categories of population to buy products at lower prices, and the social policy should benefit the poor.
