A 10% coffee price increase is being prepared, writes the Politika daily in today’s issue, calling the price increase “unjustified”, citing its findings.

The prices of coffee in world markets have dropped considerably since August, but it seems that consumers in Serbia will not benefit from that.

From RSD 800 per kilogram in August, when the price of the raw ingredient was at its highest, the price of coffee has gone down to RSD 600. This situation in the market should logically lead to a lowering of the retail prices as well, but, as Politika writes, certain producers even intend to increase the prices of coffee by 10% as soon as next week.

The daily’s source, well familiar with the circumstances in the market, says that the fact is that “other parameters” such as carboard, foil, energy have become more expensive, but that the drop of the price of the raw ingredient has fully compensated for it, due to which, he estimates, “the new price increase is not realistic”.
